Day 4 Cage

4th Oct 2019

4th day of OctPoWriMo.

I have had some lovely comments on the last three days, so thank you to everyone who took the trouble. I have also passed the 50,000 visits to my blog . Yipee! That feels like a landmark of sorts. Anyway please keep in touch.

Wistfully
You have waited for me,
Hoping
You have hungered for me
Silently
You have softly sought me
And there,
there you are
More precious than
Pewter or silver or gold
Here am I
I come to visit you
To sit with you,
You,
Hidden in the bread.
Disguised behind the veil of
Reality
Where is the key
Where shall I find it
How shall I open the lock
Tell me,
Tell me.

Hidden

24th Jan 2019

The Friday Fictioneers Challenge

Hidden
Once you were loved
someone cared for you
caressed you
treated you fine
took you on outings
beautiful lady smooth lines
out for a good time
in your prime
but now
you are alone
on your own
hidden in the forest
tall trees grow up
 around you
hem you in
you are trapped
briars and bracken
poke through the ruins
of your broken body
your heart
no longer beats
your paint flakes
your eyes are blinded
the lights gone out
you are old now
and rusted
you are no use anymore

Dark

10th Jan 2019

Just a few words to match my mood this morning:

There is so much dark

Dark in the sky,
Dark in my mind
Dark in my soul
Dark in through the windows, through all windows

Dark back through years
Dark behind all the tears
Dark whilst standing in the sun
Dark whilst having so much fun

Where is the light to see by
Where is the light to show the way
Where is the light to reveal the joy
Hidden deep and locked away

He is the light, he helps us see
He is the light, he shows the way
He is the light , he reveals the joy
He can no longer be hidden away

Move dear soul so you can see
Move dear heart to find the way
Move dear child, reveal the joy
Move, hide no more, come into the day

Forbidden

30th Oct 2017

Where on earth to go with the prompt today .
Oh well, here we go then:

Forbidden

She thought it was forbidden
so she always kept it hidden
and only when she'd died
did they find out

She was a quiet one they said
finding the box under the bed
who'd of guessed this was
what she was about

One and all they told their story
how they thought her grim and gory
but none had thought her
capable of this

They put the suitcase on the bed
right beside the girl  now dead
and while they pondered each
gave her a kiss.

Master

 26th May 2017

A story using the word master

"Come on little man, you're doing so well , you'll master it it no time", Kevin beamed at  his four year old grandson, legs and arms splashing about as he was holding him just on top of the waves.
He taught all twelve grandchildren  to swim in exactly the same way , as well as his own five children, and they all  loved the sea because of it.
A lot of them were there today , some with him in the water and others sitting with their grandma on the beach, or playing a ball game on the sand.
Kevin looked over at Julie, his wife of nearly forty years, catching  her eye for a  brief moment the sadness they were both trying to keep hidden, at least for the moment, was visible on both their faces.
"Dad," his daughter called from the little group sitting a few feet away from the water, "We're going to have the picnic now, so can you bring Noah out please so he can get dry?"
Kevin picked Noah up with ease and threw him in the air and walked back with him to his mum wondering how on earth He and Julie were going to tell the family

Also ...
I would like to master Spanish so that when we go to Spain with our camper next month I'll be able to converse with the natives. I know, I know, I've left it a bit late, but I'm always a last minute pony and usually come up with something.
However, I think this is going to be a difficult one, especially as I have very little time to spend on said learning, what with getting everything ready to go.
But my theory is that when we're there, surely it will be easier, hearing the language all around me, to pick it up and I will have to try because we'll be in some remote places where my tiny bit of Spanish will be the only way to communicate;  not for us the popular places for tourists where all the staff speak English.
We want to go down country lanes and talk to the local people in the small villages. So, I'd better go and find my phrase book now .

Senseless

                                                                    18th October 2016

Senseless

As more senseless killings are reported
From around the world
As our old people are hidden away to sit
Staring out of a window
Alone, abandoned and feeling useless ,
Just biding time - or worse,
Costing too much for us to care,
We may wonder if life has become devalued  and today
We are only acceptable
If we can look after ourselves and
Not bother anybody else.

Go This Way

Day 3:
 3rd April 3rd poem.

Was inspired today by a walk along the coast . We took a path from the beach up a pretty winding staircase. Each turn gave a different, yet  interesting view which  made me reflect the path our lives take. Not sure I've done justice to it in this poem.

Go This Way

Go this way, tread these winding steps,

                                    Up this steep slope.

                                                     Stop here, rest,

                                                                      Take in the view,

                                                                                     The castle - almost ruins

                                                                                                     Glory days over.

Carry on up, round that blind  bend,

See the lake- veiled in mist,

                                                Joys hidden in shrouded past

            Struggle further,up  towards the peak,

                                                   Breathless,

The path narrows, stones underfoot slow progress

                                                                           Turn, see the valley

                                                                                            Deep, dark,

                                                                                 Holding lost moments of gloom.

But now, for you, up, up,

                                                                               Crawl on to the summit,

                                                       Lift yourself up,

                        Stand, breathe deep

     Look around,

                                      All before you takes shape

                                                             Holds together.
