Bottle

12th March 2020

A challenge:    to write a piece - prose or poetry in exactly 65 words . Prompt - Bottle

Bottle

Soft light throws shadows
on two flushed  faces,
blue eyes meet,
hold their story,
hum of other diners
dim,
there is,
only this moment.
He, takes champagne,
the Bollinger,
from the ice bucket,
pours two goblets,
hands one to her.
Gently,
touch, tinkle together,
her smile warm,
complexion aglow.
He draws near,
"will you marry me?"
She nods her head,
"Of course," she says

Open Your Eyes.

10th March 2020

Secrets, hidden and buried, eventually find a way to the surface to damage anything in their  path.  "little white lies", they  do not exist. A lie is a lie. Sometimes it seems harder to tell the truth than to "save face" or "be kind" to someone. But it's never the way. Peace comes from living in truth. But first we have to know what the truth is and secondly to always be true to ourselves, our own deep being.

This is from a while ago.

Open Your Eyes

Do you  want to avert your eyes,
not look back.
Or hide under that  rose bush
forget the rack.

See, there is no darkness which
 can erase
those images which caused  your
mind to craze.

You, activate those neurons now,
open your eyes
turn, be brave, face the mirrors
of their lies.

Somewhere I go for peace and to be with God, in quiet.

Tongue - Day 7

7th Oct 2019

Day 7  of the OctPoWriMo challenge . Tongue is the prompt for today

       You Are

When you are gone I close my eyes,
I close my eyes and think of you.
My inmost substance sees you there,
Encounters your presence.
You Are
the light that brightens my gloom.
When I think of you I cannot breathe,
Mysterious shivers cascade through me,
I tremble at your touch, am caught in your embrace,
A warm flame rests within my heart,
I want to stay,
You Are
The place I want to be..
I taste your lips, wondrous sweet,
relish every morsel,
True delight, honey from the bee,
You Are
the only  sustenance for me.
I hear your gentle voice, whispering words of love,
Words that I long to secrete somewhere in my memory,
to be retrieved at times like this,
You Are
Music to my ears, the echo of my dreams,
Murmurings that comfort me.

Dawn

10th June

OK so it's been a while since I've posted anything here on my blog. I have no excuses, except to say that I haven't felt the least bit inspired. My mind has been in a bit of a foggy place where thinking at all has been an effort that I've tried to avoid .. Just feels like hard work... Well, just to point out that I am still there , but there is also a little bit of me that can't help wanting to talk to you all. And to find out what is going on with all of my readers. By the way, thanks for all your lovely comments. They really do keep my spirits up. Knowing that someone - anyone - has enjoyed and appreciated some words of mine gives me such encouragement.

So, with it being June,  the weather being so good, the sun coming up so early, I was reminded of  a time in the past when we went out to meet the dawn.....

Dawn

Before the other campers stir,
In the anonymous womb of darkness,
The world is at rest
Before the forest wakes
The "almost light" of just before dawn
Says goodbye to the night.

Tent sides damp with hope of  the new day,
You breathe in the fresh promise of morning,
And slowly, anticipating, open your eyes ,
Turn -  see their little bodies- still, quiet,
Curled up in sleeping bags
Just moments before awakening.

As the birds begin their greeting,
In the half light
You crawl around, finding
Trousers, trainers jumpers- falling
Into one another, rubbing your eyes,
Whispering, whispering shared secrets.

The zip - noisy - breaks into
The mystery of  dawn,
And out you step onto the dewy grass
And creep, staying close together, into the forest,
The dark being coaxed away
By the light of the new day.

The universe is unveiled before you
With only the sound of your breathing
All around you is coming to life
And then the little one nudges you
Excitedly - points a little way ahead
And you all stop, thrilled.

There, grazing in the early morn
A herd of deer.
You keep as still as a mountain ,
And stare, mouths wide open,
For ages, until, spooked, they run off,
You return to the tent
For hot chocolate and toast
