Bottle

12th March 2020

A challenge:    to write a piece - prose or poetry in exactly 65 words . Prompt - Bottle

Bottle

Soft light throws shadows
on two flushed  faces,
blue eyes meet,
hold their story,
hum of other diners
dim,
there is,
only this moment.
He, takes champagne,
the Bollinger,
from the ice bucket,
pours two goblets,
hands one to her.
Gently,
touch, tinkle together,
her smile warm,
complexion aglow.
He draws near,
"will you marry me?"
She nods her head,
"Of course," she says

A poem ...Getting Through

Getting Through

You pick your way through dim shadows,
tangled vessels
Stumble over piles of debris- black bags-
Each new layer crushing, compounding,
throbbing temple
Hiding sadness in cold, confused chaos
don’t think...
Step between battered suitcases
Hinting of pain, past places- grey
 forget...
With lonely lethargy you upturn photos,
 lost in dust
Try to give some sense, some connection-
dismiss...
brown,  muddy,  fuzz.
What?  How?  Why?
air heavy, hot, oppressive
 think...
hands shake, you pull back the curtain, fold by fold
 remember...
light with rainbow rays fills the room
Reveals treasure - long forgotten,
 you push the window
Open.
You,  are still –
accept...
A robin sings – you see him, red breasted, puffed,
Sitting on a branch .
You drink green dawn, deep into purple lungs
A breeze - soft, silent -sweeps away cobwebs.
You’re here...
Lifting your head skywards
You watch a plane unzip the blue.
