Day 14 - Mother Earth

14th Oct 2019

I must say the challenge is getting harder.
Day 14
I took the prompt - Mother Earth and turned it to suit me:

Exploring poetry in all its forms.

Mother of Heaven and Earth

How can it be that you are my mother
Most blessed of all creatures
Most pure
How can it be that you care for me
You, with all the children of the world
Under your soft protection
How can it be that every little detail
Of my life is of interest to you,
Dear mother
You, who lived an ordinary life
But it is,,
So I come  to you, sit with you
Bring my little worries
And the bigger ones too
And you, you take them up to the sun
Your own dear son
Yes,  because you are the mother
Of the creator of the entire universe
You are indeed,
Mother of Heaven and Earth

The Vauxhall Victor

Squashed together in the back of the
Vauxhall Victor Estate - green -
Three sisters cocooned in sleeping bags.

Surrounded by pillows and other
Camping paraphernalia,
They fidget and bicker,
Moan and cry.
They are:
Too hot, too close, too hungry
Too uncomfortable.

Parents try to distract,

Send back sweets
Even though
The sun has yet to come up.

Five thirty at Dover docks
Morning light  from the East,
Glitters on sea,
Reveals White cliffs.

As they drive onto the ferry.
Their nostrils delight
In the salty, fishy hope
Of holiday.

This is the first
Of many excursions
They will make to the continent.

Out Of The Darkness

Day 5: 5th day, 5th poem.
Easter Day

Out of the Darkness

We get up early, before the sun,
Bold, loving - striking out to where
We'd watched Joseph and Nicodemus.
Gather spices, fresh clothes,
Ointments to anoint His body
We walk together.
Tears - a balm for the union of our sorrow.
Wailing we comfort each other with stories,
Personal, painful.
We ponder - who will roll the stone away?
And then,
The sun rises
Reaching the place, we stop.
Looking , without understanding ,
who has done this thing?
The tomb - empty.
Confused we stand.
Do not fear , they say.
Out of darkness - the Light ...He is Risen...
And joy ,  hope returns.
He is alive...
He is alive...
He is alive...
